Behaviour

At our school, we use a restorative justice approach to help children reflect on their behaviour, repair relationships, and learn from their experiences. Instead of focusing on punishment, we use language around acknowledging harm, making amends and understanding consequences. This helps children take responsibility and see how their actions affect others.

We encourage families to use the same approach at home. The following key questions can help guide calm, reflective conversations:

  • What happened?

  • What were you thinking and feeling at the time?

  • Who has been affected by what you did?

  • What do you need to do to make things right?

  • What can be done differently next time?

By using these questions, children begin to develop empathy, accountability, and problem-solving skills that will support them both in school and at home.
